Director of Development

Director of Development

Salary: $60,000 - $70,000

The Director of Development is an instrumental member of the Development and Marketing team and is responsible for encouraging and directing a culture of philanthropy within The Villages and the community. This position is responsible for identifying, cultivating, and stewarding relationships with individuals to increase agency revenue through donations and awareness to deliver The Villages’ mission, vision, goals, and objectives.

The Director of Development will:

  • Direct and manage the fundraising and donation operations including the annual campaign, appeals, recurring giving, planned giving, foundation and donor advised fund gifts, monetary and in-kind gifts, and special event fundraising components.
  • Direct the expansion and diversification of fundraising channels to enhance donor participation and revenue generation.
  • Perform all donation entry, exports, and maintain a secure and accurate nonprofit CRM database (Salesforce) with records of all donor’s information, preferences, pledges, donations, and sponsorships.
  • Utilize the CRM database as a resource to manipulate and report giving data to the EVP of Development & Communications to collaborate on giving strategies, donor identification and cultivation, and stewardship.
  • Produce monthly reports and perform ongoing financial reconciliations with the EVP of Development & Communications and the Finance and Accounting Departments.
  • Direct and collaborate with the Development and Marketing team to produce fundraising content including direct mail pieces, fundraising email communications, annual appeals and campaigns, digital fundraising, impact and annual reports.
  • Manage and collaborate with the Advisory Council to maximize fundraising efforts and agency impact.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, fundraising, business, or related field (with a focus on philanthropy preferred)
    • A combination of education and experience may be accepted
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in fundraising or closely related field is required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook
  • Proficiency with office technology including software applications relative to the job including Salesforce or similar CRM

  • CFRE credential
