Accounts Payable Specialist

Department: Finance/Payroll
Location: Bloomington, IN

Accounts Specialist – Accounts Payable

Salary: $45,000-$50,000

Accounting Specialist – Accounts Payable is responsible for the accurate general ledger coding, data entry, and payment processing of all agency payables. This position is also responsible for accurate general ledger coding and data entry for all fixed assets.

Essential Functions

  • Ensures accurate general ledger coding, data entry, and payment processing of all agency payables
  • Communicates with internal and external vendors to resolve any questions/issues.
  • Reconcile accounts payable subledger to General Ledger
  • Assists with analyzing and preparing budgets, and prepares period reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs
  • Serves as a liaison between the division (Finance) and the assigned program to monitor funding source and program budgets
  • Prepares required schedules (payables, property & equipment) for annual CPA financial statements audit
  • Serves as back-up to the Staff Accountant
  • Serve as coverage at front desk, including phone coverage and reception

Required Position Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • 3 years of relevant experience
  • Combination of related education and experience may substitute for an Associate’s degree

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Previous experience in foster care, social services, behavioral health, or clinical setting
