Director of Development
Salary: $70,000 - $80,000
The Villages of Indiana is looking for a dedicated and skilled fundraising expert to be our Director of Development!
The Director of Development is an instrumental member of the Development and Marketing team and is responsible for encouraging and directing a culture of philanthropy within The Villages and the community. Work in collaboration with the Chief Development Officer to develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan that includes corporate and foundation giving, planned giving, major gifts and special events. Responsible for leading the organization's fundraising and development efforts, focusing on securing financial resources, building relationships with donors, and implementing strategic plans to achieve the organization's mission. The Development Director must work closely with CDO to develop fundraising goals and strategies that align with the organization’s mission and values.
This position has hybrid capability.
The Director of Development will:
Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to meet the organization’s annual revenue goals. This includes setting annual and long-term fundraising goals, creating a fundraising strategy, and identifying potential funding sources.
Direct the expansion and diversification of fundraising channels to enhance donor participation and revenue generation.
Identify, cultivate and steward major gift prospects, as well as corporate and foundation donors.
Plan and execute special events that engage donors and raise funds for the organization.
Build and maintain strong donor relations with current and potential donors, including individuals, foundations, and corporations.
Work with the CDO and the marketing team to create and implement the Villages first peer-to-peer fundraising event.
Create and implement a year-round stewardship plan. Keep donors informed about the impact of their contributions and building long-term relationships.
Manage all fundraising budgets and track financial performance.
Work closely with the Communications team to develop and execute effective donor communications and marketing materials. This involves developing a compelling message that resonates with potential donors, creating donor recognition programs, and crafting targeted appeals that drive donations.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, fundraising, business, or related field (with a focus on philanthropy preferred)
A combination of education and experience may be accepted
Minimum of three years’ experience in fundraising
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook
Proficiency with office technology including software applications relative to the job including Salesforce or similar CRM
