Development Manager
Salary: $55,000 - $60,000
The Development Manager is an integral member of The Villages' Development team, responsible for planning and executing a dynamic portfolio of fundraising and community events, managing volunteer engagement, and supporting the organization's public relations efforts. This role is central to how The Villages connects with donors, partners, and the broader community — translating our mission into meaningful experiences that inspire support and action. The Development Manager is an organized, relationship-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes initiative, and is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families across Indiana. Working closely with the Director of Development, this position plays a key role in building the visibility, community presence, and philanthropic foundation that makes our work possible.
As our Development Manager, you will:
Plan and manage all current Villages events, fundraising, community-focused, and peer to peer campaigns
Create and manage fundraising campaigns and ticketed events?
Work closely with the Director of Development to ensure all special events meet budgeted revenue goals
Serve as the organization's primary liaison to the PR agency, collaborating on PR strategy, story ideas, and campaign focus
Coordinate and schedule media interviews, press appearances, and press releases in partnership with the PR Agency
Serve as the primary point of contact for all agency volunteers, ensuring a positive and meaningful experience
Recruit, train, schedule, and recognize volunteers across all events and organizational activities
Position Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field
1 year of experience in event planning, fundraising, or a related nonprofit role
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience working in a nonprofit or human services environment
Familiarity with fundraising best practices, peer-to-peer campaigns, and donor stewardship
Experience managing volunteers
Experience working with media or PR partners
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with donor databases, CRM systems, or fundraising platforms (e.g., Classy/GoFundMe for Nonprofits)
